<plokta.con> Release 4.0, May 23-25 2009, Sunningdale, Berkshire

Guests of Honour: Diana Wynne Jones (Saturday) & Paul Cornell (Sunday)

Update: The convention programme is now available as a PDF. This may still change, but it's the same version as we will be giving to members of the convention.

Important Update: We regret to announce that Diana Wynne Jones is unwell, and will not be able to attend the convention. We're sure you'll all join us in sending her best wishes for a speedy recovery. We'll refund memberships in full to anyone who decides they'd prefer not to attend the convention. The rest of the convention, including Paul Cornell's Guest of Honour appearance, will continue as normal.

The convention programme will run from late morning on Saturday (23 May) to late afternoon on Monday (25 May, the Spring Bank Holiday), and will be our usual mix of literary and fannish programming with added superfluous technology. The committee, as ever, are the Plokta Cabal: Steve Davies, Alison Scott, Mike Scott, Sue Mason, Giulia de Cesare, Steven Cain and Flick.

Sunningdale Park is a mile or so from the town of Sunningdale, near Ascot, which is 47 minutes from London Waterloo by train. The site is a former stately home set in 65 acres of landscaped grounds. We don't get to use the stately home; instead we have a modern purpose-built convention centre at the other end of the site. The accommodation and restaurant/bar are close by, and it's all been refurbished to make it beautiful. There's also an outdoor, heated swimming pool, and diversions such as tennis, squash, giant chess, pool and croquet. And there's free WiFi.

The room rate is £80 per twin/double room per night and £60 per single room per night, including breakfast and VAT. Some family rooms are available; check with us if you need one.

To book a room, visit http://www.deverevenues.co.uk and use event code NCPLOB or phone 01344 634395 and quote Plokta. Either way, remember to book at Sunningdale Park. We believe that there are no twin rooms left, but there are still singles and doubles. The web booking service has been intermittently unreliable -- if you can't book through it, then try phoning instead.

Attending membership is £30 payable either by PayPal to mike@plokta.com or by cheque (payable to Plokta) to Mike Scott, 13 Collette Court, Eleanor Close, London, SE16 6PW. Free for under 12s, £15 for 12-17.

You can see the pages for the previous cons here, here and here.
