Urgent Novacon Update
Due to road closures, travel directions to Novacon (UK) have changed
Following a "Police initiative" New Street in Birmingham will be closed to all traffic (other than pedestrians) between 10am and 10pm every day from 7th November 1998 until 10th January 1999. (Before 10am and after 10pm deliveries/loading/unloading can take place).
This means that the four disabled bays referred to in Novacon PR4 are no longer available for use. The Committee are investigating alternatives and will contact members who have expressed an interest in these as soon as possible.
This also means that anyone wishing to unload stuff for Novacon will have to use the Britannia Hotel's new unloading/loading bay, which is situated on Corporation Street, facing C&A and beside Lloyds Bank.
From St Martin's Circus Queensway (with the Rotunda and entrance to New Street on your left) follow the road bearing left up Moor Street Queensway to the first large island and turn left. An Argos Superstore is on your left, turn left after the lights into Corporation Street and follow the road down to C&A - the Britannia's unloading/loading bay will be on your right by Lloyds.
From here the Britannia is actually behind C&A: cross the road and walk down the alleyway with C&A on your right. Turn right past C&A and the entrance to the Britannia is on your right a few yards down Union Passage. (If you run into problems call the Britannia Hotel on 0121 631 3331).
